Topline:

The northbound 5 Freeway connector to the northbound 405 in Irvine will be closed starting at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 until 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26. A little break will ensue, and officials will close the connector again from March 1-4.

Why it matters: Caltrans says the closure will allow workers to fix pavement on numerous connectors in Orange County.

How to navigate: Commuters can follow signage to get to their destination. Including:

  • Exit northbound 5 Freeway at Alton Parkway
  • Turn left onto Alton Parkway
  • Turn left onto Irvine Center Drive
  • Veer right onto the northbound 405 Freeway

What else to know: The same stretch will be closed the following weekend, weather permitting. Caltrans warned traffic collisions, weather and the availability of equipment or materials could prolong the closures.
