The group “La Farandola” was born in the early 80’s and is currently composed of dancers coming mostly from Vicenza, with some people from Verona.

Our group has a passion for traditional dances and musical repertoires of different peoples, and we study not only the dances, but also the historical and cultural context which these dances originate from. Dance and music are in fact forms of communication used in a variety of ways by all the peoples in the world. At a time when our society is becoming increasingly multiethnic, we think it is important to look for points of meeting, knowledge, integration and tolerance. And the traditional dances can act as a “bridge” to put in contact peoples from (sometimes very different) cultures and social traditions.

La Farandola is a no-profit organization. The activities of the group in these recent years concern organization of exhibitions, stages for school teachers and classes for beginners and advanced dancers, with the participation of Italian and foreign folk dance teachers and choreographers. And in the week-end we often organize "Bal folk"s (dancing parties) to help people discover the richness of folk dance.

Many were in the last years the performances of folk dances offered mainly in the province of Vicenza, during festivals, parties, cultural events or promotional public activities.
