A High-End Greek Restaurant From NYC Gets a Prime Slot in Beverly Hills

New York’s Avra Estiatorio proved popular enough for two Midtown locations. Their West Coast sibling Avra Beverly Hills makes its debut this week in the long-shuttered Hakkasan and spent seven months transforming the 11,000 square foot space into a Mediterranean mecca in the heart of the Golden Triangle.

Avra’s new look is a pretty comprehensive metamorphosis. The approach is big and beige with 240 seats, flowy sculpted drapes, a 1,500-pound sculpture, and fresh lemon trees in the dining room. There are high ceilings with a skylight amongst the neutral woody tones developed by New York City design firm Rockwell Group.

Co-owned by Nick Tsoulos, Nick Pashalis, and Marc Packer, the first Avra opened in 2000 on 48th Street, with a second location in 2016 on 60th and Madison. The Midtown Avras are well-established with the business crowd, trendy diners, and Upper East Siders.

The fare is modern Greek, with classics throughout. But the menu also emphasizes a large selection of flown-in fish and seafood. Certain menu items will remain from the sister restaurants, as well as a market-seafood display for guests to select their ideal catch.

Lunch and brunch will launch in the summer months, but for now it’s dinner-only. Avra hours are Monday to Wednesday 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday to Saturday until 12 a.m., and Sundays until 10 p.m.
