EL PASO, Texas — Choir students at Hornedo Middle School are trying to get to Carnegie Hall this summer.
The choir was selected to perform among students from all over the world on June 24.
The 40 students in the choir were selected by the Distinguished Concerts Singers International, which contacted choir director Jessica Barney after seeing one of the choir's performances on YouTube.
The students need to raise $120,000 to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York City. So far they’ve raised about $40,000, according to a press release by the El Paso Independent School District.
The choir has been working with the El Paso Community Foundation to raise money for the trip. Anyone interested in making a contribution can do so at https://epcf.org/hornedo.
