Biography

Research and STEM Activities

Completed a computational biology program at Carnegie Mellon in Summer 2022 where she developed algorithms to analyze collected bacteria samples; wrote code using Go to align, assemble and organize strands of DNA... Over the pandemic, wrote a research paper on Nanotechnology in Cancer Therapy while working with a mentor from Polygence who was a bio-engineering PhD candidate from Stanford working with CAR-NK cells; paper was published in the Youth Medical Journal and she presented her findings at the Polygence Symposium... Took part in the Scientific Teen Partnershp, where she volunteered by reaching out to other organizations, schools and clubs that wanted to highlight STEM in their communities; aided an underprivileged school in 2021, helping it to host their own science fair in an effective and efficient manner.

Prior to Caltech

Academic Honors: Published a research paper on Nanotechnology in Cancer Therapy... Granted the Rose Gilbert Foundation's Scholar-Athlete Award... Was a CSF seal bearer... NHS member... AP Scholar with Distinction.

Athletic Honors: Top 15 Finisher at LA City Section CIF XC Finals... Competed at both CIF City Section Cross Country Finals (2019, 2021, 2022) and State Championships (2021, 2022)... Also competed at CIF City Section Track Finals (2021, 2022, 2023).

Personal

Chose Caltech not only because of the academics, faculty and research opportunities but also the welcoming and collaborative nature found all over campus... Appreciates the shared sense of community between students as well as between students and faculty... Values Caltech's community of hardworking and supportive peers... Plays violin... Was in the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra for seven years... Enjoys chamber music and formed a chamber ochestra group with friends, where she was hired for various gigs and performances over the course of high school... Enjoys reading and has been part of various book clubs.
