Skies of Arcadia - Graphical issues, Sound distortion #760
Comments
Here are some screenshots of actual dreamcast footage for this game: Regarding the Start menu in airship battles, this is normally fixed by enabling the "Render to texture Buffer" option. It is normally enabled automatically for this game unless it's not recognized. (Are you using a CDI?) Try to force enable this option and see if it helps. See #467. Regarding audio issues, make sure to enable the DSP as it is required for accurate sound. If that doesn't help, please provide more details so I can reproduce it. Thanks. |
I'll try these suggestions later tonight. Since I don't have real hardware that's functional at the moment, I'm shocked to see that this menu graphical glitch (the green, jagged area) was in the original ROM. My apologies. |
I'm using a .GDI, and the Render to texture buffer was disabled by default, so I've now turned that on. DSP was already enabled though, so I'll try to see if I can get some captures to show you. |
In Skies of Arcadia, there are several menus that have graphical distortion. Two examples include the options page, and the Pinta's Quest page. No idea what this is related to. I'm using OpenGL and per-pixel sorting. Here are the two examples posted below, take note of the bottom left corners.
Additional graphical glitches that I've seen so far include a new one for me. After playing for several hours, I noticed that when I get into an airship battle, the menu background art would display when the battle begins. After said battle is over, this now becomes permanent, and when you go to open the "Start" menu from your airship, the opacity is around 5% or so and it's EXTREMELY hard to see anything in the menus at all.
I do not have any footage of this, but I can provide it upon request, as I'm sure it'll happen again.
Regarding the sound distortion, I've noticed this in several areas, including the opening cutscenes after starting a new game. You'll hear several "static" sound bits inside of various sound effects and music playing that should not be. I do not have these readily available to offer here, but I can make a video showcasing how it SHOULD sound, and how it sounds on flycast.
I am using the xaudio driver, haven't tested the other options.
