Ganguro was the beginning of the “dark skin” revolution. People are pretty sure it was Buriteri that started it. It mostly consists of darkened/tanned skin, white eyeliner, white lipstick, plus little face decals. This style is pretty much dead, as sad as it is. It’s rare to see an original ganguro photo anymore.
Manba came afterwards and really accented the eye makeup, creating a “panda-like” look while highlighting the bridge of the nose and lips as well. Skin was supposed to be dark as well. Some kuro gals try to keep this style alive, especially for occasions like Halloween where they dress up, because it’s a more extreme and “not everyday life” or “practical” style.
Banba is just the lighter version of manba; you can see that the names are almost the same. Makeup is still centered around the eyes, nose, and lips like a panda, but it’s only a light dusting, not as obvious and heavy as manba.
