SUMMARY
Anamorph: not definitely known; one is referred to by Kirk & Spooner (1984) but no information is available.
Teleomorph: ascostromata perithecial, (70-) 80-120 µm diam., epiphyllous, semi-immersed, gregarious, black, globose with a flattened to minutely papillate apex. Interascal tissue absent. Asci (32-) 40-50 x 5-7 µm, numerous, 10-20 per ascoma, in a basal fascicle, narrowly pyriform to cylindrical, sessile or with a short stalk, the apex rounded, thick-walled and fissitunicate with a strongly thickened apex, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 8.5-11 x (1.5-) 2-3 µm, narrowly clavate to soleiform, the apex obtuse and the base rounded, straight, curved or inequilateral, constricted at the single ± median septum, the upper cell distinctly broader than the lower, hyaline, smooth, thin-walled, without an epispore or gelatinous sheath.
