Sarah Alegre is a Southern California native who made it back home to the Golden State after anchoring, reporting and producing in the Lone Star State. She is incredibly grateful to join the esteemed FOX 5 San Diego family as your weekend weather anchor and reporter.
After graduating from the University of Southern California during the genesis of the pandemic, Sarah moved to East Texas to jumpstart her journalism career. She covered topics ranging from the unprecedented February Texas freeze to extensive coverage on the Texas and Mexico border.
Sarah got her B.S. in communications at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and a minor in cinematic arts at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. There, she channeled her interest in storytelling through screenwriting and her role with Annenberg Media, USC’s independent news source. Outside her studies, Sarah acted as an ambassador for the university as a USC Song Girl.
Her love for storytelling started at a young age. As a competitive dancer, Sarah developed a passion for creativity through movement and artistic expression.
Her curiosity to learn more about the world around her spurred the course of her journalism career. Sarah says acting as a voice and mediator for the community makes this passion so rewarding.
