Fico colors

Color guide for myFico? I know green is the best and I'm a long way from there. But my questions is how high does the red go? Score-wise? I believe yellow is the next color? Just curious how much farther I have to go to get a prettier color.

Re: Fico colors

Thank you Thomas. I'm inching closer to the next one then. ten more EQ and 15 more TU. I've decided that EX just hates me since they won't remove something everyone else has removed. And i'm not poking the bear.

Re: Fico colors

Keep in mind that the colors are basically just fluff and that the ranges aren't finite set in stone values.  Like crossing from 669 to 670 for example doesn't suddenly make someone "good" as different lenders will look at different pieces of profile data above and beyond mere score.

Re: Fico colors

BBS thank you. I agree. I am just here for the colors and the tasty dirt in the garden. But I'm sick and tired of seeing red for years and am so close to orange I can almost taste the Vitamin C.

Re: Fico colors

I hear you.  Just understand that not all profiles are created equal.  There are people out there that are "red" that may actually have a stronger profile in the eyes of a lender than several others that are "orange" based on what they are looking for.  While profile strength and score are usually pretty closely related, they don't always tell the whole story.

Real simple example.  You may have two people, one with 20 years of credit history that has a squeaky clean report except for a single 30 day late payment on one account in the last year that has a lower score than another guy who has 1 year of credit history with no baddies.  On paper, the first guy may be "yellow" based on a big score drop from the one minor delinquency, where the second guy that's 19 years old may be "green" due to no negatives.  Upon a manual review, the lengthy credit history of the first person is likely going to be viewed much more favorably.

Think of it like 2 MLB players.  I may tell you that one has a batting average of .419 where the other has a batting average of .340.  On paper, without knowing any additional information, you'd say that the first guy is "better" based on the number.  If I then told you that the .419 number was taken in May, barely into the season with very few games played and the .340 guy's number was from now, September, almost all of the way through the season, you'd look at the numbers much differently based on the time difference.
