Like most people, Dakota Johnson didn’t enjoy going to the ‘office’. The Madame Web star made a cameo appearance in the series finale of The Office, a mockumentary sitcom television series following the everyday work lives of office employees in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Based on Ricky Gervais’ BBC series of the same name, the American sitcom enjoyed a great run on NBC and ran for 9 seasons, as fans got hooked on the everyday lives of employees of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.

Considering how hilarious the show was, it’s not far-fetched to assume the atmosphere on the set would’ve been the same. However, if Johnson’s words are to be believed, things were as pale as most offices in the real world.

Dakota Johnson Hated Her The Office Experience

Dakota Johnson appeared as a new accountant in The Office. She’s roped in by Dwight Schrute to replace Kevin Malone, the simpleton accountant who was beloved for his naive nature. Both figuratively and literally, Johnson had big shoes to fill.

The situation was made tougher for the actor due to the complex dynamics of the set. Speaking to Seth Meyers, the Fifty Shades of Grey star revealed:

“I loved that show so much, and they were like, ‘Do you want to be in the series finale?’ And I was like, ‘Of course,’ thinking that I’d show up for like half a day. I was there for two weeks, and I’m barely in the f–king show.” Johnson only featured in two scenes.

The 34-year-old continued: “There were weird dynamics that had been going on for the last 10 years. Some people didn’t speak to each other, and I’m coming in like, ‘So excited to be here!’ And no one wanted to talk to me. Nobody gave a f–k.”

Since Johnson entered the show at the time everyone was gearing up for a big departure, it’s understandable she didn’t manage to get along well with her co-stars. However, she’s not the only actor to complain about her time on The Office.

Why Rainn Wilson Was Unhappy on The Office

Rainn Wilson played one of the most popular characters in The Office: Dwight Schrute, a dedicated salesman at Dunder Mifflin, who would go to any lengths to get on the good books of his regional manager Michael Scott. In the end, he finally gets the position of regional manager.

Schrute got his much-deserved promotion but Wilson struggled to ape his television success on the big screen. Speaking to Bill Maher on his podcast Club Random (via Variety), the actor revealed he spent several years on The Office unhappy due to the same.

“When I was in ‘The Office,’ I spent several years really mostly unhappy because it wasn’t enough,” Wilson admitted. “I’m realizing now, like, I’m on a hit show, Emmy nominated every year, making lots of money, working with Steve Carell and Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski and these amazing writers and incredible directors like Paul Feig. I’m on one of the great TV shows. People love it. I wasn’t enjoying it. I was thinking about, ‘Why am I not a movie star? Why am I not the next Jack Black or the next Will Ferrell? How come I can’t have a movie career? Why don’t I have this development deal?’”

The 58-year-old fortunes didn’t change even after The Office wrapped. His stints in underwhelming movies like Cooties (2014) and Uncanny (2015) did little to attract big-time Hollywood filmmakers, leading to Wilson depending on cameo appearances in different television series to remain in the limelight.
