I have to admit I’ve been a wee bit naïve. My aunt Violet would say I’ve been more than a wee bit. I have been house-sitting and looking after Gertrude, a cat in this sweet little country town. And it’s Gertrude that has gotten me into this dilemma. Well, the word dilemma is not even close to what has happened. You know what they say, ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover.’ Unfortunately, I have. Richie seemed like a nice guy. Charming and helpful.

As I said, Gertrude started all this. I was happily walking down the back alley at night, looking for her. I wasn’t worried; it was a beautiful evening, and it wasn’t like I was walking down an alley at night in the city. This was Glenhaven. What could possibly happen? The words “Digging a grave.” Still makes me shiver. Did that mean someone was murdered, and they were hiding a body? After hearing those words from behind a hedge, I can tell you I legged it home fast.

Did I mention my aunt Violet? Aunt Violet and her friend, the woman I am house-sitting for, have solved crimes. And when I say crimes, I mean murder. I thought about that. And I decided if Aunt Violet could solve a mystery, so could I. That was my fatal error. No, I take that back. My fatal error was trusting Richie.

Yes, you guessed it. There was a murder. And the person I trusted to help me betrayed me. Stay tuned. I’m not sure how this will end.
