From a purely aesthetic point of view, the fact that
Yallt-Inclan resorted to the influence of narcotics as a
source for his images does not detract from their beauty
and rare charm, nor does the profusion of imagistic orna-
mentation upset the delicate balance of style.
To give even a representative listing of Valle-
Inclan's metaphors would be quit® impractical, for such a
list would be interminable♦ Passages from the Sonatas
quoted in preceding portions of this work all sufficiently
illustrate the author's prowess in the realm of metaphor.
A brief discussion of one of the more outstanding images
will adequately demonstrate Talle-Inclltn's unsurpassed
skill in the use of metaphorical language.
