CAMH Phase 1D Forensics Building, Stage 2
Toronto, ON

Cumulus to delivered a Forensics Stage 2 submission to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) for The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). CAMH, a leader in mental health treatment and research, is currently undergoing a multi-site amalgamation and redevelopment program on the Queen Street site. The CAMH campus concept was conceived in the 1990s as a series of street grids to negate the stigma associated with the site by providing continuity and integration with the adjacent neighbourhood.

CAMH sought design solutions that delivered world-class design while providing innovative care solutions for the unique needs of forensics patients. The scope of work included full schematic design for clinical areas, in particular the inpatient floors which required specific room relationships and patient, staff, and visitor flow to verify the therapeutic milieu achieved patient and staff safety. The resulting Master Plan concept and schematic design is a radical departure from recent Canadian and international facilities.
