Tras el susto, el globo de Betanzos voló

Eran las 12 de la noche y el centro de Betanzos aguantaba la respiración. Tal y como se ha ido realizando desde el año 1875, el aerostato que colgaba de la iglesia de Santo Domingo comenzaba a coger la fuerza suficiente para elevarse. La plaza, repleta a rebosar por unas 70.000 personas, esperaba el vuelo del globo número 130. A tan solo unos metros del suelo, la lancha que colgaba del aerostato se prendió, lo que asustó a los espectadores, que vieron una gran columna de humo. Como se aprecia en la grabación, muchos pensaban que todo el artefacto se había incendiado. No obstante, solo la parte inferior lo hizo y, pese al susto de los que se encontraban en la zona, no hubo heridos. Después del incidente, el globo hizo lo mismo que todos los años: subir al cielo. Debido a lo débil que soplaba el viento, su ascenso, como se aprecia en las imágenes, fue bastante vertical.
