The Arizona Coyotes have a prospect who has quickly made a name for himself over the past year, and now Jan Jenik is getting league-wide attention in the Ontario Hockey League.

Jenik, a forward who plays for the OHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs, was named OHL Player of the Month for November.

The 19-year-old Czech Republic native played 12 games in November, scoring 11 goals with 20 assists for 31 points and plus-6 rating.

A whopping 2.58 points per game is pretty staggering, even in junior hockey.

Jenik is in his second season with the Bulldogs and was drafted by the Coyotes in the third round (65th overall) in 2018. He’s a left shot and has 33 goals and 84 points in 52 games played since joining the Bulldogs.

In August of this year, The Athletic prospect analyst Corey Pronman ranked the prospects in the Coyotes’ system and put Jenik behind Barrett Hayton (No. 1), Victor Soderstrom, Kevin Bahl, Kyle Capobianco and Nick Merkley in that order. But it’s hard to say to what extent that ranking would match the opinions of the Coyotes brass, especially now that Jenik was among the standouts in training camp and is off to a strong start to the OHL season.
