Join us for this unique opportunity to work with highly accomplished artist Kamille Corry in an intimate class setting (10 students maximum). This figure painting from life class will focus on accurate and dynamic drawing, understanding significant form, color theory and designing with color. Other topics include discussions on materials and techniques and meaningful paint application. Creativity will be encouraged as well as pushing beyond your comfort zone. As well as painting alongside the students, Kamille will offer individual daily critiques. Each student will have ample time to work on their own in order to problem solve and push their own artistic boundaries. Students will be doing some preliminary drawings as studies for the paintings; however, the course is focused on painting, and not spending time on highly finished drawings. The main focus of this course will be figure painting from life, along with anatomy studies, composition and design projects, as well as a few optional plein-air sessions.

*** Prior drawing and painting experience is preferred.  Kamille will focus on critiquing students’ drawing (meaning, correct proportions, gesture and anatomy), however it is highly recommended that the students have at least intermediate drawing skills, and some experience painting and drawing from life.

All painting will be in oils, with the exception of some different media on the ornamental background of the nude figure.

PROJECTS WILL INCLUDE
TWO LARGE PAINTINGS:

  1. a nude with an ornamental, patterned background with various media for the background design
  2. a full figure in the interior
  3. 4 sessions will be spent on each of these projects per week.

–   One day per week will be spent on composition and design

–   One day per week will focus on the structure of the hands, where we will draw, paint, and sculpt the hands

–   One half day per week will concentrate on anatomical structure of the figure, pertaining specifically to the nude figure painting project

–   One (optional) plein-air landscape painting session per week, as time and weather allow. This is a somewhat optional part of the course, and will be in the early evenings, after studio sessions. Students are encouraged to participate, as it is a chance to free up your painting techniques and get out of the studio.

Reserve your spot with either payment in full or a deposit of half down.
