My name is Albaira Silvia Hannah Alabai P. Maipi. I am majoring in Elementary Education. I just started my first semester here at the University of Guam and this is my Tripod ePortfolio from ED451-02 Audio Visual Education. Previously, I had a one-year teaching experience at my childhood Elementary School in Chuuk State, Federated States of Micronesia. It is called Mwan Elementary School. My students gave me the inspiration to continue my education, so here I am at UOG, I wanted to learn more in order to go back home and help the kids. I hope that in the near future all the Public Elementary Schools will have computers---so my dreams of incorporating TECHNOLOGY teaching will come TRUE!

Learning can be different with the use of both Manual Techs and High Techs. Comparing these two, students would find it more interesting to use High Techs rather than the manual Techs. Students who are exposed to the use of technology teaching are more advance in learning, while those who are used to manual teaching tend to slow in technology usage.

If you know anything about Gardner's Multiple Intelligences, you as a teacher can use them to your students technologically. Using the 8 multiple intelligences as your teaching strategy, can enhance students' different learning abilities.  There is a total difference between high techs and manual techs. I just realize how learning is different when students are exposed to COMPUTERS and other technology tools. Some teachers apply these multiple intelligences when they do projects requiring students to do activities that has nothing to do with the computer. If you're one of us, try to use the computer and incorporate the 8 multiple intelligences to your students. You can read more details about the alignment of the 8 multiple intelligences and technology in my professional statement as my teaching philosophy.

Technology teaching allows students to work actively and to become creative problem solvers. It gives students the freedom to explore things on their own. In this class, I learned the different types of educational tools that teachers can use in the classroom. Those tools can be used in different subject areas. Students' learning needs to combine with both minds-on and hands-on activities. It supports the teacher's teaching and it expands learning as well. Technology tools are like helping hands to the teacher. It is more resourcesful!

The lesson plan format that I learned from this class is called the ASSURE FORMAT. It has specific details on what the students are going to do including the specific tools or materials needed to use. This lesson plan format is useful for a substitute teacher; the lesson plan gives number of students, their ethnicity, and their learning competence. And the ASSURE MODEL is made especially for class that requires the use of technology tools, and that's very interesting!
Comparing the ASSURE MODEL to other lesson plan format that I use, the assure is much better for technology teaching and for substitute teacher.

These are my sixth-grade students on my Island. You can see that the learning environment is plain. One of the student has hearing impairment; she usually sits in front of the class so that I can have easy access with her and to hear lectures clearly. Students are assigned seats; slow learners and disruptive students are seated in the front rows. I've tried to maintain a good classroom management. Maybe the students need to learn something new and interesting. And I believe if I will implement technology teaching in my classroom, then it will probably change my students' learning.
