Congratulations to 4th grader, Aleida!

Aleida’s artwork was selected by Senator Barbara Washington to represent AFIA’s senate district in the Missouri State Capitol’s 2021 Senate Arts Exhibit. A print of Aleida’s portrait of Amelia Earhart will be displayed at the State Capitol for a year. Aleida created this portrait as a part of a Changemaker project in Ms. Haley’s 2nd grade class.

The Senate Exhibit sponsors, the MO Art Education Association (MAEA) and the MO Alliance for Arts Education (MAAE), realize how important arts education is to our students, community, and the nation. We appreciate their efforts at the state level to support arts in education in Missouri!

Celebration of Learning

Twice a year, we look forward to Celebration of Learning at AFIA. Please help us celebrate the hard work and personal growth of our students on Thursday, May 27th on 9:30 AM at our Virtual Celebration of Learning. Each class will share a short presentation celebrating their year together. Look for an invitation with additional details from your child(ren)’s teacher.

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

At AFIA, we strive to celebrate the diversity and strengths all of our community members bring to our school all year long. We recognize that within the Asian American and Pacific Islander community there is much diversity and many strengths to celebrate. We want to celebrate these strengths all year long.
