Unveiling my new ongoing project: POCKET KAIJU! I.e. redesigning all 151 original Pokemon as kaiju with fleshed out “Kaijudex” entries. A bit of a passion project that I want do so I can better my illustration techniques as well as my creative writing. Anyways, enjoy!

Kaijudex Entry No. 01: BULBASAUR

Height: 3 meters (at top of bulb)

Weight: 10 tons 

Bulbasaur was first discovered in the forest neighboring Fuchsia City by Professor Oak. A typically docile creature, Bulbasaur maintains a peaceful life, generally avoiding human settlements and only becoming aggressive if threatened. It has been theorized that Bulbasaur is a relic of an ancient species, as most Pocket Kaiju such as Squirtle and Charmander are proposed to be. Furthermore, Oak believes that the parasitic plant that has latched onto his back has allowed him to survive the test of time, acting as essentially a solar engine for the creature. Any attempt to further study the odd plant has been met with hostility, as the plant discharges toxic mist when approached.

Side Note: Bulbasaur has been observed migrating at the same time every year to a garden hidden within the heart of the forest near Route 14. It is unknown why exactly this creature does this, but upon investigating the garden further, numerous fossil remains resembling Bulbasaur have been discovered. In an effort to preserve this seemingly sacred ground, Oak has deemed the garden a protected sanctuary and has hence named it “Bulbasaur’s Mystery Garden”.
