My journey has covered a wide range of roles and responsibilities, significantly enhancing my knowledge and understanding of R&D, medicinal chemistry, and drug discovery.

This experience has been essential when transitioning to drug development activities, especially in CMC and project management.

1990

University of Sevilla

The journey begins

My scientific journey began in Spain, where I did my PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Sevilla. My primary focus was on designing new asymmetric catalytic routes and synthetic methodologies.

1995

Stockholm University & Cambrex

The postdoctoral history

Following this, I relocated to Sweden to work as a postdoctoral researcher at Stockholm University. During this time, I collaborated with various pharmaceutical companies, including Cambrex Karsloka & AstraZeneca, synthesizing and modifying biologically active compounds.

1999

AstraZeneca

Flourishing in
innovative research

I joined the postdoctoral program at AstraZeneca in collaboration with Stockholm University and Karolinska Institute. Throughout this period, my primary focus was on developing novel fluorination methods for synthesizing imaging biomarkers for PET, all while expressing my enthusiasm for innovative research in the pharmaceutical industry.

2002

Sprint Bioscience

Becoming a
senior scientist

My next position as a senior scientist in medicinal chemistry at Sprint Bioscience was my entry into fragment- and structure-based drug discovery. My tasks were focused on optimizing fragment hits and developing original synthetic methodologies. This expertise significantly impacted my career in drug discovery.

2004

Oncopeptides

CMC project manager

I continued my work in drug discovery at Oncopeptides, and decided to transition into the drug development side in the CMC department. Working as CMC project manager further strengthened my leadership skills. I managed CMC activities in assigned projects and played a crucial role in coordinating with CMOs and vendors.

2006

Synartro

Leading the
R&D and CMC

Currently, as the Head of R&D and CMC at Synartro, I play a pivotal role in driving and coordinating R&D and CMC activities. My involvement in various functions, including preclinical, regulatory, and clinical development—along with being the main contact with CROs, CMOs and consultants—, and also IP strategy, grant applications and investor meetings demonstrates my ability to ensure comprehensive project management and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Throughout my journey, I have developed an important set of skills, including project management, medicinal chemistry and laboratory work including analytical techniques. These skills are essential to my contributions to the world of pharmaceutical development.

A bright new
future ahead

In November 2023, I started my career as an independent consultant by founding Abego Pharma Insights AB. I have learned how crucial it is to plan the start of your drug development program before initiating clinical trials. The way you kick off the process and how well you understand and organize all the required activities can make a big difference in the success of the project.

This is where I can help you! I specialize in making sure candidate drugs not only reach those crucial first-in-human trials on time but also grow into future medications. I have a strong passion for project management, particularly in CMC, and I'm excited about contributing to the progress of medical solutions.
