AB RUST® A4

High performance

AB-RUST-A4-protection-métaux

AB RUST®A4 is specifically designed to protect metal in contact with water based formulations.

AB RUST®A4 is a ready to use aqueous solution made of organic based

corrosion inhibitors in combination with sodium nitrite.

AB RUST®A4 is VOC* free.

The sustainable alternative with additives formulated from plant-based bases

Applications - Dosage

AB RUST®A4 is mainly recommended for:

  • flash-rust protection of water based anticorrosive primers, paints and varnishes based on acrylic, styrene-acrylic, alkyd, epoxy, polyurethane dispersions or emulsions
  • in-can protection for metal packaging filled with above products

AB RUST®A4 must be added preferentially in the letdown, before the rheological agents. The use in post-addition is also a possible option. The use levels are:

  • typically, from 0.5 to 1% based on the total weight
  • exceptionally, for sensitive metal substrates, 1.5 to 2% based on the total weight

There is no advantage to use higher levels. On the contrary, a too high dosage can increase the water sensitivity of the dry film.

Characteristics

Aspect: yellow liquid
Density: 1.09 – 1.19 at 20°C
pH: 7.7 – 8.7 at 20°C
Solubility: Water soluble in all proportions

AB RUST®A4 can release an odour specific to its composition, even in the dry film, for a prolonged period of time.

Storage - Shelf-life

AB RUST®A4 is frost sensitive. It must be kept at temperature above 0°C.

It is recommended to use AB RUST®A4 within 2 years following its manufacture (see the expiration date on the label).

Labeling

AB RUST®A4 is classified in category 4 “Harmful if swallowed”, and in category 2 “Irritating to eyes”. For further information, please consult the MSDS.

Regulatory Information

AB RUST®A4 components are registered on the following inventories: EINECS (Europe), ENCS and ISHL (Japan), KECI (South Korea), TCSI (Taiwan).

Comments
