Wowzers! Two months in a row! - 2004.01.15
A new Emerald Dragon disc seems to have been unearthed that I've previously never heard of at ANY page before! Emerald Dragon: Taikenban (personal record). Check out Necstacy for the ISO.

It's kind of tough to explain this disc. Essentially, it's like a collector's disc for the PC-Engine version. You can watch all the visual scenes in the game, listen to the sountrack and read commentary on each song, play all the mini-games and there's voiced character profiles for all the major players in the storyline. On top of that, there's a "limited demo" of the actual game on the disc. You are able to play from the start of the game, up through Zama Fortress, but Save and Load are dummied out.

It's a quirky collector's disc to say the least. But you might find it interesting if you're a hardcore fan of the game.

I have updated the Characters page with the information from the new disc (height, weight, age, etc). The disk had a few corrections to previous information, mostly regarding birthplaces.

An Update - 2003.12.03
I managed to obtain the FM-TOWNS version of Emerald Dragon, and it is good. Very good.

It is officially the new version I would recommend to ANYONE considering playing Emerald Dragon. I really don't know what else to say about it besides it's perfect. It's the best Emerald Dragon can get without doing weird stuff to its gameplay like the PC-Engine CD and SFAM versions did.

Special thanks go out to Rodrigo Shin and his friend for providing a place to host the ISO. You can find a link to it on the emulation page. Also thanks to Rodrigo for sending me the SPC soundtrack for the SFAM game. It has been added to the music page.

Regarding the old X68000 port directions, thsanks to new developments in Sharp X68k emulation, the latest versions of XM6 and WinX68kHighSpeed no longer require you to do a hard disk install of Emerald Dragon.

One last note, an error on the music page was corrected. It is not the X68000 OST, but the FM-TOWNS.

A New Look... - 2003.03.31
I finally decided it was time to redesign the page. Hopefully all twelve of the people who have visited this page since I started it a year ago find the new look acceptable :-)

I've been working on a load of new information to put up about the game. First off, the focus of the page has shifted from the later ports of the game to "the originals" as is reflected by the choice in artwork. Sorry GameFAQs people, I believe the original versions were far superior and would like to dedicate my efforts to promoting and preserving those.

So what's changed? I finally standardized the site names based on my etymologies page. I put together a large, downloadable map for the original versions. It may help a SFAM or PCE-CD player but I know for sure it's missing areas from those versions.

Lastly, I brought back the ROM images. They're in the emulation section along with recommended emulators and instructions to get the game up and running.

Enjoy!

The Radio Shows are Down - 2002.12.16
Errrnt! Times up! YOU LOSE! But I gave you a whole extra month because I'm just SUCH A nice guy.

Up next, we have the complete X68000 soundtrack of Emerald Dragon. Doesn't it just rock the SNES version? Yes it does, damnit. Stop giving butt-love to the Big N.

Radio Shows Down Soon - 2002.11.18
For anyone who hasn't gotten the radio show yet, you should probably do so now! I am only leaving it up for one more week and then it's coming down. I can't leave that 170MB of space eaten forever.

Ogg Vorbis Lub - 2002.09.24
Okay, huge update this time. First, the 4 MP3's from the Radio Show have been pulled -- and replaced by the ENTIRE RADIO SHOW in Ogg Vorbis. The total size of the files is 140MB on disk so please, no simultaneous downloading. I don't want my bandwidth to get whacked.

Also, Nightcrawler has been sending me chunks of the script to translate. Currently the game script is translated up through the first town, anything ever said on the world map is done, and all the menus are done. Progress has been a bit slow though since he only sends me a file every week or two (which I usually have done and back to him the next day).

He's wasting his time working on some Dual Orb thing instead of dumping Emerald Dragon scripts :-P

Boring Update - 2002.07.20
Nightcrawler has been asking me about it so I tried putting up a page to explain the differences between the Emerald Dragon ports.

Also it's been brought to my attention that the FM-TOWNS version of the game is widely considered the best of them all (hey, anything is better than the SNES one right?). If anyone know where I can purchase it let me know, I'm really interested in getting to play.

Shiver me Timbers, Pirates Ahoy! - 2002.06.11
The PC-Engine CD will never be available at this website. Please stop asking me for it.

Unfortunately due to high piracy interest in this title I will not make the audio available either as it could be used to burn a pirated disc. It's $15 at eBay and up every other week.

Go there. The package is so nice, they earned that $15 if not more.

MDX Goodness - 2002.01.16
Managed to unearth a new MDX dump of Emerald Dragon that contains lots of great audio tracks the old one is missing.

Also got my hands on the X68000 soundtrack. Working on getting the Radio Drama CD's right now.

If you would like to help out by hosting some MP3's let me know! I have the PC-Engine and X68000 sountracks so far.
