3DO - The unforgotten PANASONIC R.E.A.L. 3DO INTERACTIVE MULTIPLAYER - 3DO

The Panasonic 3DO was an innovative home gaming console system that was years ahead of it's time.
It was released in North America on October 4th, 1993.  Making it the very first CD based
console in North America.  The 3DO also plays audio CDs and CD-Roms.  The CD audio player
software features really cool abstract visuals that move along to the music.
The 3DO holds some legendary titles.  However, gameplay is very unique
compared to other consoles released at the time.  It is definitely a console of an acquired taste.

The Sega Saturn was and is a 2D powerhouse that was very advanced for it's time.  Released in North America on May 11, 1995.
The Saturn had the hardware capability and potential to graphically look and perform superior to it's rival, the Sony Playstation 1.
The issue at the time that lead to the Saturn's demise against Playstation 1 was that it was poorly marketed and rarely advertised.
Only the mediocre games were advertsed such as Virtua Fighter and Daytona USA, rather than much better titles such as the
Panzer Dragoon series or Guardian Heroes, 3 Dirty Dwarves, Metal Slug, etc.  Japan has amazing titles that was never
advertised in North America.  If only...  Perhaps the Saturn would have succeeded.  Many video game programmers at the time also
criticised how difficult and time consuming it was to program for the Saturn compared to how easier it was to program
for the Playstation 1.  The Saturn's hardware components were very advanced at the time so in a way it was something entirely new
to the video gaming industry which needed more patience.  Overall the Saturn was a very powerful system at the time
that was equipped to have reached a much higher potential.  Never the less, it will alway be one of the best consoles in history.
