BIOS
MARIA BORIO is the author of two collections of poetry: Trasparenza (Interlinea, 2019) and L’altro limite (LietoColle, 2017). A selection of her works entitled “Vite unite” was included in Quaderno italiano di poesia contemporanea XII (Marcos y Marcos, 2015). She holds a Ph.D. in contemporary Italian Literature and has written the monographs Satura: Da Montale alla lirica contemporanea (Serra, 2013) and Poetiche e individui (Marsilio, 2018). She is poetry editor of the journal Nuovi Argomenti, previously directed by Alberto Moravia and Pier Paolo Pasolini.
DANIELLE PIERATTI’s poems and translations have appeared in Boston Review, Mid-American Review, Words Without Borders, and elsewhere. Her first book, Fugitives (Lost Horse Press, 2016), was selected by Kim Addonizio for the 2015 Idaho Prize and won the 2017 Connecticut Book Award for poetry. She is the author of two chapbooks: By the Dog Star, 2005 winner of the Edda Chapbook Competition for Women (Sarasota Poetry Theatre Press), and The Post, the Cage, the Palisade (2015, Dancing Girl Press). She lives in Connecticut.

Brimming with windows, screens, and high-rise glass, Maria Borio’s first English-language collection confronts the interpersonal crises of contemporary lives caught between two worlds—one ancient and abiding, the other rapid, digital, and increasingly diverse. Translator Danielle Pieratti captures the dissonance of Borio’s sharp lyricism and clipped rhythms, creating a contemporary English-language poetry that preserves the poet’s engagement with Italian modernisms.
