Porn star's offer refused
A porn star's bid to sponsor a volleyball match has been given the red light.
Hardcore actress Eva Henger had been due to pick up the tab for Palermo's clash with Modena on Sunday. But the Italian Volleyball League stepped in to veto the plan, on moral grounds. Henger, who watched the match from the sidelines, said: "It seems incredible in the year 2002 that someone would censor an offer to sponsor a club." Palermo are the only team in their division without a sponsor. But the authorities would not be swayed. Italian Female Volleyball League president Francesco Franchi said: "These are values that should not vanish for inopportune reasons. Flesh "Our players could be charming and attractive but mere beauty is not the only value that female volleyball should portray."
That was not the attitude taken by organisers of the Sydney games, who decided to restrict the size of swimsuits in order to show off as much flesh as possible. And some of Palermo's players have certainly not been shy in the past, notably Brazilian star Ana Paula Mancino and other team members who posed nude for a calendar to raise funds. Henger, naturally, approved. "When I saw these girls photographed in the calendar, I liked them, they're beautiful, elegant and rule-breaking," the Hungarian declared. You get the feeling you haven't heard the last of her. |
